what's in my carry-on?

On Tuesday morning, my parents and I started our 20-hour flight to the Philippines. We arrived here on Wednesday night {Philippine time, morning on the east coast} and are slowly adjusting to the time difference. The thirteen hour time difference is rough, let me tell you.

Since we're not here for even a full week, we each just took a carry-on luggage and bag. I love watching 'What's In My Bag' videos so I thought I would share what I took with me on this trip in my carry-on bag plus a tip to make packing a bit easier. It's pretty much stuffed to the brim and a bit heavy, but I try to keep all my valuables with me for easy access. Plus some fun additions like candy obviously.

Let me know what you take in your carry-on!

kate spade wish list

So one of the things I gave up for Lent this year was shopping. Shopping at malls, in store, for makeup, online - just about everything. I made one exception for home storage and organization things because I really need to finish unpacking, but everything else is on hold until Easter.

I've done things like this before so I knew the first week was going to be tough. My online window shopping is at a high right now. I've racked up quite the wish list at many stores so I thought I would share it with you. Hopefully you can add some of these beauties to your closet!

winter weather necessities

When winter first arrived, I thought for sure we were going to have a milder season. It's taken a cold turn recently with the snow storm we had a few weeks ago and the single digit temperatures we've had over the past few days. I thought now is as good of a time as any to share my winter weather necessities!

valentine's day chocolate desserts

Valentine's Day Chocolate Desserts // A Style Caddy

The last Valentine's post for the week is probably my favorite. I love baking and desserts and chocolate so of course this weekend would be one of the best times to combine the three {not like there's ever a bad time} and whip something up. I've been looking around for some inspiration and these caught my eye immediately. Some are light and airy, some are fruity and creamy, and the rest are intense and decadent. None will disappoint!

If you follow me on Instagram {@sheriann_}, you may see what I end up baking for Sunday!

simple & sweet valentine's makeup look

Valentine's Day is this weekend and you may be hurrying to finalize plans and buy gifts so makeup should be the last thing you think about. I decided to try my hand at another makeup look - something simple and sweet with a little bit of pink for Valentine's Day. It's so quick and easy that you could wear this every day and is perfect as a work look! Love when things play double duty...

If you want a list of the products I used in the video, you can find it on YouTube!

favorite five: valentine's gifts for the single girl

So Valentine's Day is coming up this weekend and I've been seeing a ton of gift guides around the blogging and YouTube world. I am in that percentage of people that doesn't have a significant other to buy something for, but you know what? That doesn't mean I, and all you other single people out there, shouldn't treat yourself to something nice! I took a gander around things on the internet and chose five of my favorite gifts for the single girl.

{Also, this is my 143 post! Remember when '143' was a thing? I felt that was appropriate to mention with Valentine's Day coming up!}

50 facts about me

One of the great things about blogging is being able to share bits and pieces of life with all of you. The thing is, I haven't actually shared that much about me. I've seen this type of video on YouTube several times and thought that it couldn't be that hard {lies, it's more difficult than you think} and filmed it for you!

So here it is! 50 facts about me that I'm sharing with you...

mexican layer dip {for game day!}

Mexican Layer Dip {For Game Day!} // A Style Caddy

Who else is excited for the Super Bowl this weekend? My team isn't playing this year {boo} but it's still fun to watch anyway. And Super Bowl parties seem to be such a big thing that I thought I would share one of my favorite dips ever. I promise it will be a hit at this weekend's party and any party you bring it to.

I promise it's a good one!

Ingredients:
16 oz can refried beans
5 oz grated cheese {I used to Mexican cheese mix from Sargento}
16 oz jar chunky salsa
12 oz sour cream
3 1/2 tbsp taco seasoning
16 oz creamy guacamole {handmade or store-bought}
1/3 cup green onions, optional
1/3 cup olives, optional

Directions:
1. In the container of your choice {I used an 11x7" brownie pan}, lay the refried beans in an even layer.
2. Next, layer the grated cheese. If adding green onions or olives, place them over the cheese.
3. Spread the salsa over the cheese. I suggest using chunky because it's not as watery and won't mix in with other layers.
4. Mix together the sour cream and taco seasoning in a separate bowl. Then spread this over the salsa.
5. The last layer is the guacamole. If you're finding that it's hard to spread this over the sour cream, outline the pan first and then fill in the middle.
6. Serve with tortilla chips - I love this with hint of lime chips! - and ENJOY!
