final finds: nordstrom anniversary sale

I'm sure you've seen a ton of these posts, but the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming to an end in just a few days. Prices go up on August 3rd so I thought I would share with you what I bought, minus one because it's no longer available.

What I Bought:

I also wanted to share just a few more things from the sale. There were so many things that I loved, but I also needed to stick to the budget I gave myself. So while I may not be able to enjoy these, you most certainly can! All of these would be great for the upcoming fall season!

Final Finds:

If you purchased something from the sale, I'd love to know what you got! Happy Shopping and Happy Friday!

lipsticks and lip glosses

Favorite Lipstick and Lip Glosses {Happy National Lipstick Day!} // A Style Caddy

I know I've been really sporadic with posting. Reason why will come in a later post. But I have something for you today!

Today is National Lipstick Day {there is literally a national holiday for everything} so I thought I would share my favorites with you. I pretty much only wear nude and neutral shades or deep wines and reds. Nothing in between because I'm just not brave enough to venture into the realm of pinks, fuschias, magentas, oranges... Anything that is bright terrifies me! I much prefer safer and classic shades.

1. NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu is a very moisturizing lip gloss with medium coverage. I love the smell {like cake!} and feel of this. It's a great go-to that you can get from the drugstore.

2. Buxom Lip Gloss in Samantha is my holy grail gloss. It does have a bit of glitter in it, but it's not noticeable once you put it on your lips since it is on the sheer side. Buxom glosses have that tingling, lip plumping feel. I don't mind it, but I know it's not for everyone. If it doesn't bother you, I highly recommend this!

3. I know I said I stick to nudes, wines, and reds, but bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Party Starter is my favorite warm weather color. The coral shade isn't too bright or punchy since it's a gloss.

4. This is pricey, but YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in 9 Nude in Private is the prettiest warm beige lip stick I own, and it's not just because of the packaging! It smells like mangoes {yum!} and is very hydrating. It's not the longest lasting lipstick so you'll need to reapply throughout the day.

5. Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Honey is my go-to work color. It's on the rosier side of nude lipsticks, which I think is flattering on my light tan skin tone. It's easy to throw on as I'm running out the door on the way to the office.

6. Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Natural in N9 Copper Pink is exactly what it sounds like, a pink brown shade. It is a little bit darker so I feel more comfortable wearing this during the cooler months, but that's just my preference. It's creamy so it glides on smoothly for even application.

7. and 8. Matte lip shades can be very drying and uncomfortable to wear, but Maybelline got it so right with their Creamy Matte Lipsticks. I have this formula in Divine Wine, a deep wine color that I love to wear during the fall, and Rich Ruby, a ruby red shade just added to the line. It lasts all day and doesn't fade. I always get asked what I'm wearing when I have these on!

9. Rimmel Provocalips claims to last for 16 hours and it definitely does. It's double-ended with the lip color on one end and a moisturizing lip gloss to top it with on the other. You'll definitely need the gloss since it's very drying on it's own. It doesn't budge at all so you won't have to worry about wearing colors, like my favorite red from the line Play With Fire, while eating and drinking.

Well, that was a big of a long post! But there you have it, all of my favorite lip sticks and glosses. I would love to hear what yours are!

shortbread cookies & the british open

Shortbread Cookies & the British Open // A Style Caddy

The third major, the British Open, of the year starts tomorrow! This year it will be at the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland, the "home of golf". It's always more fun to watch golf on European courses because links golf makes for prettier and much harder courses. It will be interesting to see who wins on Sunday with Rory McIlroy out for a bit with an ankle injury and Jordan Spieth on a roll after his fourth win this year.

My parents actually left for Scotland to watch the Open on Monday and I'm quite jealous! I thought that since I'm not there to watch in person, I'd make a traditional Scottish treat to have while watching on TV. I decided to make shortbread cookies and really struggled with it. I finally had success {third time's a charm!} with this recipe from Ina Garten {can always rely on her for a good recipe} and followed it exactly. The only suggestion I have is to use good quality European butter, which has a higher fat content than American butter. We really like Kerrygold in our house.

Happy cookie making!

nordstrom anniversary sale: top 10 picks

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here! Or at least it is for card holders. Since I am not a card holder {Is it worth it? Should I get one?}, I'm only able to get a sneak peek but still wanted to share with you my top 10 favorite finds. Yes, that's right. I narrowed it down to just ten! There's so much more that is on my wish list, but I'm restraining myself and trying to narrow it down even more. We'll see what happens once I get full access to the sale, but for now, here are my favorites so far...

{Don't forget that if you shop online to use Ebates to get some money back from your purchases! It's the best. Seriously.}

If you're able to shop the sale now, I'd love to know what you got! This sale is always one of the best during the year and I can't wait to get some new boots and other fall things next week!

Happy shopping!

monday scorecard {vol. 6}

Monday Scorecard {Vol. 6} // A Style Caddy

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! The last time I've ever had concrete plans for the 4th of July was in high school, but I enjoy not having anything to do. If you couldn't tell, I like more relaxing weekends.

I was able to catch a few fun sporting events and find some other links to share with you!

Hole-in-one // The US Women's soccer team won the World Cup! They scored 4 goals in under 20 minutes, and you just had the feeling that the trophy would be theirs. It was exciting to watch!

Albatross // At The Greenbrier Classic this weekend on the 18th hole, there were two hole-in-ones. In one round! And that meant that the owner, Jim Justice, had to pay the fans watching in the grandstands $100 for the first and $500 for the second. It cost him $192, 400.

Birdie // Two must-see movies: Jurassic World and Inside Out. They're completely different but great!

Par // It's Shark Week! These Discovery Channel shows both terrify and fascinate me.

Par // These Anthropologie coasters are the prettiest things ever!

Bogey // I attempted to make these shortbread cookies and completely failed. I was successful with another recipe, but if you have tips of how to make traditional ones, please let me know!

june favorites

A new month {how is it already July?!} means a new video full of my June favorites. After being absent from YouTube for a few months, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. And since I haven't filmed this type of video in awhile, a lot of the beauty products mentioned are new. Or at least new to me. It's always fun to play with new makeup, isn't it?

A full list of the products and where to find them is on my YouTube page!

Happy Wednesday!
