a life update and another leap of faith

Some big news to share today, friends!

I've been wanting to update my blog and make more YouTube videos but was pretty busy and feeling very rushed during the month of July. There were so many things that needed to get done and it had me feeling like there just wasn't enough time in one day. Or really, there just weren't enough days in the month.

But I've had some time to get a little bit settled and felt it was finally time to share my big life news. Are you ready?

I've left Disney!

Were you expecting that? Maybe not. To be honest, when I first moved down to Disney, I knew that I wouldn't be there forever. I just couldn't ever envision having my life in Florida but thought it would be fun for a little bit. I thought maybe I'd stay there for three to five years and then make my way back to NJ.

Life had other plans. I struggled with my eczema for nearly all of 2018. I had flare up after flare up after really bad flare up. In fact, it was just kind of never-ending and eventually came to a head in November. I even turned out a great opportunity within the company because of it. If you remember, I was home for a good bit of December {so many vlogs!} and my dermatologist told me that it might be the humidity and weather affecting my eczema. And while she gave me medication that cured it, it returned just a few days after I returned to Florida before Christmas. A huge, huge bummer.

I was already crying almost everyday because of how bad my eczema was, but the fact that it just wouldn't go away and people kept commenting on it made it worse. And on top of that, I was beginning to feel so unfulfilled by my job at Disney. I loved the people I worked with and being able to help all of the really kind and happy guests. There was just always this part of me that felt that I could and should be doing something else.

So I started doing tons of research and having many talks with my parents to really think about what I wanted to do with my life. It took lots of phone calls and emails and figuring out the best plan but it finally all came together in April. I was able to make plans for my move and figured out my end date with Disney.

I officially left the company on August 2nd. I will forever be grateful that I had the opportunity to work for such an amazing and magical company, but my time there had just run its course. I was so sad to leave, especially since some of the people I met there became some of my closest friends. But I also know that moving back to the northeast and to NY for school {!!} is the best and right decision.

Have I even said what I'm doing? Well, I'm going back to school! I start classes in September and will be working towards my BSN. A lot of people have asked me if I'm sure this is the right thing for me or if this is really what I want to do, especially since I'm 30 and will be older than my classmates. Doubters and naysayers have no place in my life so I just brush it off. I can't wait to get started, even though I am a tiny bit nervous about taking tests and going to labs. The excitement trumps it all though!

I will definitely be talking more about all of this big news - why I left Disney, why nursing, moving home - once I'm in my new apartment. For now, just keep your eyes peeled because I'll be updating this blog and my YouTube channel with lots of fun things!
