monday scorecard {vol. 5}

Monday Scorecard {Vol. 5} {Image via Ruth Eileen & Style Me Pretty} // A Style Caddy

This post should really be titled "All the Documentaries I Watched and Recipes I Found This Weekend" because that's all I really did. Seriously. I didn't do anything else except watch some documentaries on Netflix, practice my calligraphy, and look up recipes for the Fourth of July. Not productive to some, but it was to me and that's all that really counts, right? Right!

On to the links {sans scores because they're all too good}...

1 // Planet Earth came out a few years ago, and I just got around to watching it this weekend. It's probably not up everyone's alley, but it was so interesting! You'll fly through this series. {On Netflix}

2 // I was a senior in college when the Jerry Sandusky scandal broke out at Penn State, and I can still remember reading about it and seeing it on the news. Happy Valley is all about how the school, students, family, and town dealt with case. If you're not familiar with this, I would read up on it first and then watch the documentary. Going into this with some knowledge of what happened and reading some of the reports is the best way to watch this since it's more about how everyone felt than covering everything that happened. I found this one to be quite sad but worth the watch! {On Netflix}

3 // This is the last documentary, I promise! I'm not sure if you can watch it online, but if you can find it somewhere or see it on TV make sure to watch Glen Campell: I'll Be Me. It aired on CNN last night and follows Glen Campbell, a legendary country singer, and his family as they navigate everyday life after his Alzheimer diagnosis and then his farewell tour. This one is so incredibly sad but very touching. I can't promise you won't tear up or cry at some point, but you will most definitely learn something.

4 // The first Fourth of July recipe I want to share comes from Laura of Beauty and the Beard. Her tie-dye cake looks amazing! Time consuming but worth it because it looks delicious and so pretty. And while you're at it, you should make her DIY cake toppers too.

5 // I am most definitely making this lightened up seven layer dip this weekend. Dip is always a great party food and since this one is a lightened up version, no one will feel bad eating it. It looks great and would be a perfect party appetizer.

6 // Pie isn't my favorite dessert, but I love the idea and look of these patriotic berry hand pies. You could make it from scratch or take the shortcut version and buy pre-made pie crust and some jarred berry pie filling. Either way, these would be a great dessert to serve with ice cream at a party or take it to-go to eat while watching the fireworks.

Happy Monday!

monday scorecard: spectator woes at the us open

This week's Monday Scorecard is a little late and little different. As you may have guessed from this blog's name, I'm a big golf fan. My parents are big golf fans. Our travels are often centered around golf tournaments, especially during the summer with three majors and the FedEx Cup. If you follow me on Instagram and Snapchat {sheriann_snaps}, then you know that I spent last week in beautiful Washington State watching the US Open at Chambers Bay. My thoughts on the course and the event are... not so positive.

Monday Scorecard: Spectator Woes at Chambers Bay & the US Open // A Style Caddy

I've been to many different golf courses throughout the US. My parents have been to even more, plus some overseas for the British Open and Ryder Cup. Every course and every tournaments has its pros and cons, but for me, Chambers Bay tops the list for disappointing experiences as a spectator.

At the practice round on Wednesday, my parents and I noticed a few things: Chambers Bay is super hilly, there are some amazing views, and 'No Spectators' was a recurring theme. If you don't want to follow a group, then great! Plop down in a grandstand {18th was the breeziest which was nice on the hotter days} and watch the groups come through - a great scenario. If you're like us and wanted to watch Billy Horschel's entire round, well you were kind of screwed.

The above photo was actually taken on Friday {whoops!} at the 10th tee. But do you see the fairway? Yes, it's really hilly, but you can't actually see what happens when they hit their second shot. At least on this hole you could see them tee off and sort of see them hit their next one. So many others were roped off that your best bet was probably to just watch the coverage on TV {let's not get into that...}

Here's the thing about golf, at a major or any tournament, you, as a fan, want to see the shots - good and bad. You want to clap for and cheer on the golfers playing. You want to follow your favorite one in their group from start to finish. At Chambers Bay, you really couldn't and that's what made it frustrating and disappointing.

Instead, you were left on the outside and it was all just a bit impersonal.

And because I don't want to end on such a sour note, here's a pretty picture from a litter later on on Friday morning when the skies cleared up... Happy Monday!

summer makeup bag

If you follow me on Instagram {@sheriann_}, then you know that my family and I go to a lot of sporting events. During the summer, we're all about the golf tournaments and there is one starting this Thursday. The US Open will be in Seattle, WA and we are leaving tomorrow afternoon to watch the first two days.

I thought this would be a great time to record a new video {finally!} and share what's in my current travel makeup bag for the summer season. It seems like a lot, but my makeup routine doesn't take more than 10 minutes. I promise!

A full list of the products I mentioned in the video, as well as links to my makeup bags, can be found on my YouTube page.

Happy Monday!

five favorite beauty youtubers

More often than not, I'm watching a beauty tutorial on YouTube while I'm at home. There are a ton of people that I'm subscribed to, but makeup videos are my favorite. I thought I would share the five that I'm currently loving, the ones that drop everything for when I see they've posted a new video. You will envy their application skills and want every single product they use and recommend. This is my apology in advance if you end up running to Sephora after this.

So, in no particular order...

Jaclyn Hill // I love her personality! She's sassy, engaging, and fun. None of her videos are ever boring. I wish I had her skills and expertise when it comes to makeup application because she always looks flawless.

Nicole Guerriero // I started watching Nicole's videos because I thought our skin tones were similar. And I'm still watching her three years later. Three years! I love everything from her makeup tutorials to her Halloween looks {they are crazy!} to her shopping hauls. She is beautiful and one of the best in the biz.

Claire Ashley // To be fair, I just started watching Claire's videos on Tuesday, but I am completely hooked! After seeing the above video, I immediately subscribed. She is just pleasant to watch and is always so peppy and happy in her videos. She's a self-taught makeup artist in the DC area, and I think if I lived there, I would want my makeup done by her for special events.

ViviannaDoesMakeup // So I actually started reading Anna's blog before I started watching her videos on YouTube. She has a fun personality and her videos are never longer than they need to be. She's real and very relatable in my opinion. Anna's also the one YouTuber that I recommend the most to anyone who is looking for someone new to watch. I love that she covers more than just beauty videos and talks about fashion and fitness, too!

Amelia Liana // I think I found Amelia's channel through Anna's... However I found it, I'm so glad I did! She has impeccable style and taste in makeup and clothing. More often than not, I want to buy a product she uses or recommends. She's got a fun and quirky personality, and her beauty videos are some of the best. I'm also really envious of her eyebrows and hair. Really, she just looks great all the time and you'll love her videos.

Let me know who some of your favorites are! There are so many that I watch {seriously, I could talk about this topic forever}, but I'm always looking for some new YouTubers to watch.

And a new video from me might just be coming your way next week...

Happy Friday!

monday scorecard {vol. 4}

Monday always comes too soon for my liking. I feel like there was a lot that happened this weekend, especially since I got new furniture and a new bed on Saturday. It's amazing how a few changes and rearranging furniture can make an apartment feel so new!

On to some highlights from the weekend...

Eagle // We all know that Phil Mickelson is a really good guy. He gave us another reason to love him when he gave kids selling lemonade near the Memorial Tournament $100 for a cup and told them to keep the change. That's a $99 tip. What a guy!

Birdie // American Pharoah won the Belmont Stakes and the Triple Crown! We all witnessed history! And what adds to this already great story is that Victor Espinoza, the jockey, is donating his winnings to cancer research.

Par // This peach and blueberry brioche tart looks so delicious. We should all make it as soon as possible.

Bogey // Tiger Woods had a rough go of it this weekend at the Memorial, and people have been quick to criticize him. Hopefully TW can get into a rhythm at the U.S. Open in a week!

Happy Monday!

my favorite pajamas

I'm going to let you all in on a little secret, my favorite pajamas {and most of them, really} come from Forever 21.

Yes, you read that right. Forever 21.

I know most people don't shop there after college, but their sleepwear selection is great, not to mention it's very budget friendly. The nightdresses and sleep sets are all so soft and lightweight, making them perfect for the spring and summer months. The quality is something that you can expect from higher end brands, a surprise considering that some of those Forever 21 dresses you bought for college parties probably fell apart after a few wears. Even better, you can use some of the nightdresses and tops as beach cover ups. I love having pieces do double-duty!

I picked 21 of my favorites from the selection offered on their site right now to share with you. Everything from classic stripes, seasonal florals, fun critters, and witty sayings - they have so much and I promise you'll love them!

Let me know where your favorite pajamas come from! I love shopping for new ones and would love to know of a few more places to shop!

monday scorecard {vol. 3}

Monday Scorecard {vol. 3} // A Style Caddy

Happy June!

It's weird to think that we're about halfway through the year. Don't you feel like just yesterday we were gearing up for Christmas? Now we're cranking up those A/Cs because summer temps are here in full force. I spent this past weekend really sick {and still am...} so I just saw the sunshine and thunderstorms from my apartment, but I did get to watch the Harry Potter marathon! A win in my book.

Being sick also meant that I spent a lot of time on my laptop so here are some of my finds from the weekend...

Albatross // Overnight oats is my favorite breakfast during the hot summer months. These three recipes all sound delicious. Nutella for breakfast? Yes, please!

Eagle // The U.S. Open {for golf, obviously} at Chambers Bay is just two weeks away! I've already started thinking of what outfits to pack because I'm that excited. It's more a links-style course in the Pacific Northwest and it seems like the golfers know just as little about it as most spectators.

Birdie // Have you read this article about J. Crew? It sums up all the feelings I've had about the brand and company for... well, a while.

Par // I'm a fan of Urban Decay and their original Naked palette. It looks like they'll be putting out another palette soon. #nakedsmoky

Bogey // Rory McIlroy missed the cut at The Irish Open this weekend, an event he was hosting. I guess it's OK though because he was still around on Sunday {with his new girlfriend!}

Have a great Monday!

And if anyone has any restaurant suggestions in Seattle, please let me know!
