summer scents

Summer Scents // A Style Caddy

Can you believe we're halfway through the month of August already? The summer is just flying by. And even though I love the fall, I'm not ready for the summer season to end!

I thought I would share some of my favorite scents of the summer for everyday wear and to fill up your home. Ralph and Clinique Happy have been my warm weather go-to fragrances for years now {Ralph is my all-time favorite perfume!}, but Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet is a new one for me. I love the original, but when I heard about this one, I was really skeptical because of its name and my tendency to steer away from overly, heavy floral fragrances. If you're like me, then you'll be happy to hear that Blooming Bouquet has just the right amount of floral hints and is so light and delicate!

As for home and candles, I love the heavier scented candles - anything that reminds me of men's cologne will most likely be on top of my list. Beach Day is exactly that! It's a little bit citrusy and a little bit musky. Vanilla Coconut and Mango Coconut Cooler both remind me of summer and vacation. And you can't go wrong with that when you're living in the concrete jungle.

What are some of your favorite summer scents?

summer peach tart

Summer Peach Tart // A Style Caddy

Baking usually takes a lot of time, but in the summer, I want to be able to bake something fast without turning my studio apartment into a sauna. This peach tart is perfect for that! The ingredients list is short and there are very few steps, which means that you can have this on the table in no time.

Ingredients:
One puff pastry sheet, thawed for 20 minutes
Peaches {2 or 3 depending on size}
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Whipped cream for serving

Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Take your puff pastry sheet out from the freezer and let it thaw on the counter for 20 minutes. Once thawed, cut it in half or into thirds - your preference - and place on lined baking sheet. If at anytime it gets too soft/mushy, just stick it back in the freezer for a few minutes!
3. Cut the peaches, remove the pit, and then slice them thinly.
4. Mix sliced peaches in a bowl with brown sugar and cinnamon. Let this sit for a few minutes.
5. Place sliced peaches on puff pastry.
6. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
7. Serve with whipped cream... or ice cream! Yum!

a shot of bourbon

Bourbon Milkshakes // A Style Caddy
Bourbon and Biscoff Milkshake via Tasty Kitchen // Bourbon Chocolate Milkshake via What's Gaby Cooking // Cookies & Cream Bourbon Milkshake via offTRACT // Bourbon Salted Caramel Milkshake via Love and Olive Oil // Bourbon Toasted S'mores Milkshake via Beyond Frosting // Bourbon Pecan Pie Milkshake via Buns in My Oven // Vegan Peanut Butter Bourbon Milkshake via Love and Lemons // Roasted Cherry Bourbon Milkshakes with Hot Fudge via How Sweet Eats

I have a major sweet tooth. Sometimes I hate it and sometimes I really love it. Today is one of those love days. Add in my love for golf and it's a match made in heaven.

Sweet tooth + the PGA Championship = bourbon milkshakes.

Since the PGA Championship starts tomorrow in Kentucky, I've rounded up a few favorite bourbon milkshakes from around the web. I can only imagine how hot and humid it must be in Louisville and a cold treat sounds like the best and delicious way to cool off. Bourbon, ice cream, chocolate? Yes please!

And while you're sipping on your ice cream with a kick, watch this funny video on How to Golf with Jason Dufner.

Happy Wednesday!

delicate drop earrings

Delicate Drop Earrings // A Style Caddy

Players on the LPGA tour have taken the meaning of a 'drop' in golf in a different direction. It's become more and more popular for golfers, like Michelle Wie and Lexi Thompson, to up the ante in golf fashion by accessorizing with drop earrings. While I've never been one to wear anything but studs while on the course, I can see the appeal. More delicate drop earrings add just the right amount of glamour and femininity to the game that is dominated by the not-always-flattering polos and shorts combo.

The verdict is still out on whether or not I'll be giving these a go the next time I play a round of 9 or 18, but it is definitely on my radar...

ice cream filled cupcakes

Ice Cream Filled Cupcakes // A Style Caddy

Cupcakes are one of my favorite desserts to eat and bake. The only problem with baking anything in the summer is that it's just so darn hot! What better way to cool down than with a cupcake filled with ice cream? Yes, that's right. Cold, delicious, creamy ice cream right in the center of a soft cake. This will be come your new favorite summer treat, I promise!

And what makes it all better is that this recipe is so incredibly easy because you can use whatever cake recipe you'd like, even a boxed mix.

Ingredients:
Your favorite cupcake recipe {I used this Devil's Food Cake recipe from My Baking Addiction}
Ice cream

Directions:
1. The most important part of this recipe is to make sure that all of the cupcakes are completely cooled. I waited a good half hour before even attempting to fill them.
2. Cut a cone shape with a paring knife from the center of the cupcakes. Then, cut the triangular bottom from this piece so that you can top the cupcake once filled.
3. Working with two or three cupcakes at a time, take a tablespoon of ice cream {I used Ben & Jerry's Coffee Coffee, Buzz Buzz} and fill the center of the cupcake. Top with the circular round to cover the hole.
4. Transfer the filled cupcakes to the freezer while filling the rest.
5. This step is optional, but you can top the cupcakes with your favorite frosting or whipped cream.
6. All that's left to do is take a bite and ENJOY!
